Best Ever Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
Hi! This is Lily. Here is my favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. I found the original one on Pinterest from Tasty. I’ve been making these classic chocolate chip cookies for the past two years starting in the sixth grade when everyone was home and quarantining. Now I make them on special occasions, as gifts for family and friends when visiting them, or just when I want to eat delicious classic chocolate chip cookies.
Most recently, I made 250 of these classic chocolate chip cookies for our bake sale to raise money for our school, and they sold out quickly. Because of my food allergies, I was responsible for making sure that everything we sold could be eaten by everyone, so we made sure to have vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free treats for our bake sale.
For this recipe, I modified the original chocolate chip cookie recipe by using less sugar and adjusting ingredients based on preference. I like more chocolate chips, and I prefer to bake them to be crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.
HOW TO MAKE CLASSIC CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
These classic chocolate chip cookies stay fresh for about a week in a Tupperware container, but they never last that long because my family eats them.
I hope you enjoy them, and please let us know what you think by providing any comments or thoughts you have for us at the bottom of this post below!

Ingredient Information & Notes
These delicious classic chocolate chip cookies are made with 6 dry ingredients and 3 wet ingredients: (1) sugar (2) brown sugar (3) salt (4) all-purpose flour (5) baking soda (6) chocolate chips (7) unsalted butter (8) eggs and (9) vanilla extract.
Dry Ingredients:
- White Sugar – I use granulated white sugar or organic cane sugar, and I use a little less than ½ cup.
- Brown Sugar – I use ¾ cups brown sugar in this recipe for the best results.
- Salt – I use 1 teaspoons of pure, fine sea salt, but if you only have table salt that works as well.
- All-purpose flour- I recommend using unbleached, all-purpose flour for best results. You will need 1 ¼ cups.
- Baking soda – ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- Chocolate chips – I use 8 ounces (or more if you really like chocolate) Nestlé’s Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels for this recipe. These are also gluten free and have no artificial flavors or coloring. You can use dark or milk chocolate but I prefer semi-sweet!
Wet Ingredients:
- Unsalted butter (melted) – This classic chocolate chip cookie recipe uses one stick (1/2 cup) of unsalted butter which will be blended with the white and brown sugars.
- Eggs – One large egg add moisture and help to hold the dough together. I like to use organic eggs.
Vanilla extract – One teaspoon of vanilla extract enhances the flavor of these tasty cookies.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 350° degrees F.
- Whisk the white sugar, brown sugar, salt, and butter in a large bowl. Make sure the butter is all mixed in with the sugars.
- Whisk in the egg and vanilla.
- Sift the flour and baking soda over the batter. Mix in with a spatula.
- Add the chocolate chips and mix them in by folding the dough.
- Cover with clear plastic wrap and chill the chocolate chip cookie dough in the fridge for 10 minutes.
- Scoop the dough onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper, about a spoon or to your preference. Leave the cookies at least 2 inches apart depending on how much dough is in each cookie.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes of cooking time. (Tip- set timer for 10 minutes and check on it. They should still be slightly soft and gooey when you take them out unless you want them to taste well done but they should appear golden brown).
- Let them sit on the baking pan for 2 minutes before removing them to cooling rack to cool completely.
- Enjoy! Feel free to eat these perfectly chewy cookies with ice cream or serve them warm with a tall glass of cold milk!
